Comparable List is a client-side tool. When you paste or upload lists, all comparison logic runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. The content of your lists is never transmitted to, stored on, or logged by any server. If you create a share link, the list data is encoded into the URL itself and stays there — it is not sent to us when the link is opened.
When you contact us by email, we receive the content of your message and your email address, which we use only to reply. If analytics are enabled on the site (see Section 3), we receive aggregated, anonymous usage statistics — page views and interaction events such as “result copied”. These events never include the contents of your lists.
Comparable List may use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregated usage, such as page views and feature interactions. Analytics is optional and remains off unless you explicitly enable it through our consent controls. We do not send the contents of your lists, email addresses, phone numbers, or other directly identifying values to analytics. You can withdraw consent by clearing this site's browser data or changing your consent choice when that control is available.
The Comparable List Chrome extension compares text that you explicitly paste into its side panel or select and send through its right-click menu. It has no permission to read websites, tabs, browsing history, downloads, or accounts, and it makes no network requests. To keep the first captured list available while you collect the second, the extension holds list text only in Chrome's local session storage while the browser is open; it is not sent to us or retained after the browser session ends. A result is written to your clipboard only after you press a Copy button. The extension is covered by this policy and its Chrome Web Store privacy disclosure will state the same handling.
Your browser may store small preferences locally (such as your light/dark theme choice). This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data.
Comparable List may display ads from Google and other advertising partners to keep the service free. When advertising is enabled, those partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to show and measure ads, including interest-based ads where permitted. We will never send the contents of your lists to advertising partners. Visitors can learn how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and can manage Google ad personalisation at https://myadcenter.google.com/.
Before we store or access non-essential cookies or enable personalised advertising for visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we will present a consent choice through a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP). The CMP will let you accept, reject, or manage purposes and vendors, and will record your choice. Essential site functions do not depend on accepting advertising or analytics cookies.
Comparable List is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information via email, contact us and we will delete it.
Because your list data never reaches our servers, there is typically nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete in relation to the tool itself. For email correspondence, you may request access to or deletion of your messages at any time by contacting us. Depending on your jurisdiction (for example under GDPR or CCPA), additional rights may apply.
We may update this policy as the service evolves. The latest version is always available on this page, with the effective date below. Material changes will be noted on the changelog.
